Admission is free and all are welcome.

In this year’s program, Jones discusses the legendary Appalachian mountains, beginning with how the mountains were formed. He will talk about the rocks, minerals, fossils, mineral resources, caves and earthquakes in the Appalachians. And participants will learn how high the ancient mountains were when originally formed, compared to today’s height. Information in the program also serves to enhance the geology bus trip on May 11.

Find information on the bus trip here.

Door prizes and free rock and mineral samples will be a part of the program. Questions welcome.

A geologist for more than 30 years, Jones has conducted extensive research on Pennsylvania mining practices, authored several publications, and narrated a 3-part video series on regional geology known as “TimeWalk.” He has been on the faculties of several regional colleges.
