Learn the answer when Dr. Steve Jasinski, Curator of Paleontology and Geology, State Museum of Pennsylvania, presents “Dinosaurs in Pennsylvania.”
The program explores what we already know about dinosaurs in Pennsylvania, and how we have been able to determine our present level of knowledge. Jasinski will also discuss what we hope to determine in the future.
Jasinski’s research encompasses the natural world, both present and past, with a focus on the anatomy and life history of extinct animals, as well as those still living.
“I seek to bring life to fossils,” he said. “This includes describing and analyzing individual extinct animals, as well as investigating faunas and ancient ecosystems.”
Jasinski’s studies can apply to today’s world. “Understanding ancient ecosystems and how they change through time can allow us to infer potential implications for changes occurring today,” he said.
Jasinski holds degrees from Penn State and East Tennessee State universities, and a doctorate degree in paleontology, biological and earth sciences from University of Pennsylvania.
