Recycle/Reuse Yard Sale and Rain Barrel Fundraiser (during Earth Celebration Day)

The 2024 Earth Celebration Day at Pine Hill Recreation Area in Waynesboro, Pa. will feature a return of earth-friendly exhibitors as well as fundraising opportunities like hand painted bird houses, each one uniquely and beautifully painted by students in the Waynesboro Area Senior High School’s Community Art program.
Hand-painted bird houses will be auctioned off, and our Recycle/Reuse Yard Sale returns, too. Rent a table and convert your cast-offs to cash!

Sporting Clays Shoot Fundraiser

This is our second annual Sporting Clays shoot at Orvis Hill Country’s beautiful site in Fairfield, Pa. The event includes morning refreshments, safety instructions, ear and eye protection gear, 15 outdoor shooting stations with 100 clay targets, water and snacks, and a catered lunch. This event is a chance to get outside, test your sportsman skills, and have fun while supporting Buttonwood Nature Center. Must be 18 to participate.

Salamander Scramble —17th Annual Scramble!

The 2023 Lead Sponsor was Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home. Other sponsors included Arlene Unger, ReMax Associates and Covenant Family Dentistry.

In conjunction with Waynesboro’s Fourth of July Jubilee, the Firecracker 5K Run is ON, and so is the Scramble! Scramblers can run, walk—or scramble—to support Buttonwood Nature Center, home of The Institute. A virtual option is still in place—you can also Scramble from anywhere you choose!

Put on your running/walking shoes and join us as we “scramble” along the streets of Waynesboro during the annual Fourth of July Firecracker 5K Race. We call our “sub-event” the Salamander Scramble, with team members securing funding pledges from friends, family, and co-workers. “Salamanders” head to the finish line on behalf of Buttonwood!

Pippins N’ Pumpkins

Our fourth annual fall festival includes a full slate of activities and fun for all ages, including a ‘kid zone’ with yard games, a StoryWalk® hike & activity, live music, pony rides for kids, craft vendors, a pie walk, a pumpkin patch, and a decorated pumpkin contest. A star attraction is the ever-popular trebuchet pumpkin launcher, which will run throughout the day sending pumpkins flying through the sky.
