The Institute Presents New Weaving Program for Kids Grade 4 and Up
The Institute is offering a new textile craft program for kids in grade 4 and up. “Wonders of Weaving” will run on four consecutive Tuesdays, July 13 through August 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at Pine Hill Recreation Area in Waynesboro, Pa.
With instruction by master weaver and Institute faculty member, Beth Skroban, students will explore the world of weaving and the beauty of color.
Participants will learn to hand-paint yarn, and then weave that yarn, using a rigid heddle loom, into a small drawstring bag.
Using different techniques, they will also weave a potholder, and create a decorative tapestry wall hanging from a cardboard loom.
Pre-registration and payment in advance are required. Registration is for the full series of four classes. Fee: $40 member, $45 non-member. Plus an additional materials fee: $18 (includes skein of yarn, dyes, and ribbon for drawstring bag). Limited to 8 participants.
