Nature Journaling Camp

July 16 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 9:30 am, repeating until July 18, 2024

For students completing grade 4 through 6.

During this 3-day camp, students will get in touch with nature through observation, recording what they see with writing and drawing, and learning about the science of what’s happening in nature while immersing themselves in the beauty of the natural world.

Through observation, awareness and attention to detail, students explore such things as animal tracks, seed pods, insects, wildlife, weather and all kinds of plant life. By committing observations to paper, campers deepen their connection to nature. Journaling also captures the essence of the moment—the scent of pine, the crunch of earth underfoot, and the fresh air against your skin.

Each camper should bring a journal—a small notebook with blank paper works fine. Students are encouraged to personalize their journal with cover decorations and their name.

Camp fee: $50 for members of Buttonwood Nature Center/The Institute, and $55 general public.

Enrollment limited to 12. Deadline to register: July 12.

This program is underwritten in part by our Today’s Horizon Fund Contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; Marge Kiersz; Alma W. Oyer; and the Carolyn Terry Eddy Family: Carolyn, with daughters Connie Fleagle & Kim Larkin. Facility support courtesy of Washington Township.
