Spring Lecture #1: Adventures in The Michaux Forest

Each spring, The Institute presents a series of related programs. For 2024, the lectures will be on Thursdays March 14, 21 and Tuesday, April 2.

Our unifying theme is Enjoy Franklin County, PA. This first program in a series of three is on March 14.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

First program in a series of three.
Whether you enjoy a stroll through the forest or adrenaline-filled mountain biking, the 87,000+ acres of Michaux State Forest provide a diversity of recreation opportunities. Forest visitors can hike, bike, horseback ride, kayak, camp, rock climb, ATV ride, hunt, and more! Learn more about what the forest has to offer and how to plan a fun and safe adventure in Michaux State Forest.

Suzanne Hartley started as an environmental education specialist at Michaux State Forest in August 2022. Her work involves on increasing communication between Michaux State Forest and the community, including creating educational materials on recreation opportunities. She previously worked at the American Public Gardens Association creating educational materials on forest health for botanical gardens. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Millersville University and a master’s degree in fisheries, wildlife, and conservation biology from North Carolina State University.
