Community Learning: Green Burial Services

April 30 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Greener Goodbyes

Green Burial & Funeral Alternatives

Admission is free.

Licensed funeral director Rhea Brandenburg, from Brandenburg & Stein Funeral Parlor in Gettysburg, presents an informative program on green burial and other eco-friendly end-of-life options. Learn how choosing a “greener goodbye” can honor both personal values and the natural world.

According to the funeral home’s website, green funeral alternatives are sustainable, natural and environmentally conscious. A green burial forgoes embalming chemicals, metal caskets, and concrete vaults in favor of biodegradable materials that return the body to the earth naturally. This practice supports environmental conservation and allows for a more nature-connected farewell.

sustainable • natural • environmentally conscious

This program is presented with support from our Community Learning sponsors, Marge Kiersz, Lucinda D. Potter CPA, SEK CPA’s and Advisors.
Additional support from Buttonwood Nature Center’s Today’s Horizon Fund contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; the late Alma W. Oyer; Marge Kiersz; APX Enclosures; Don Gibe and Nancy Erlanson; and the family of the late Carolyn Terry Eddy, with daughters Connie Fleagle & Kim Larkin.
