Spring Speaker Series: The Secret Life of Insects #3
Wild Diversity in our Backyards—The Moths and Butterflies of Pennsylvania
The final of three programs in our Spring Speaker Series. The programs are free and open to all.

Participants will explore the fascinating diversity of Lepidoptera—moths and butterflies—that call Pennsylvania home, including several of the state’s rarest species. This program will highlight the beauty and ecological importance of these remarkable insects, what they need to thrive, and simple, practical ways you can help support them in your own backyard.
About the Speaker:
Betsy is a Senior Invertebrate Zoologist with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and has worked with the Pennsylvania Natural Heritage Program for more than thirty years. Over the course of her career, she has traveled many miles with field gear in hand to survey insects in unique and sometimes remote habitats. Her work includes developing conservation plans for rare species and special habitats, as well as partnering with landowners and conservation organizations to plan and carry out habitat restoration projects that protect Pennsylvania’s remarkable biodiversity.
The Spring Speaker Series is underwritten by Grace and Robert Brown.
Additional support in part by Marge Kiersz, Lucinda D. Potter, CPA, and SEK CPAs & Advisors, and by our Today’s Horizon Fund contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; the late Alma W.
