Spring Speaker Series #3: Feathers, Fur & Fins: Wildlife and Water Habitats

March 20, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Fish in Our Regional Streams

The final of three programs in our Spring Speaker Series. The programs are free and open to all.

Presented by Sarah Bartle, Waterways Conservation Officer, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, with Sonny Freeman, Deputy Waterways Conservation Officer

South-central Pennsylvania has many opportunities for outdoor recreation on area waterways, with several popular destinations for fishing, paddling, and boating.

This presentation will discuss what types of fish may be found in area streams, lakes and ponds, including native brook trout, largemouth bass and others.

Local water recreation opportunities and resources available to the public will also be explored. The PA Fish and Boat Commission works to protect, conserve, and enhance fishing and boating opportunities and resources across the state.

Bartle grew up in Franklin County, Pa. She earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Earth and Biological Sciences from Shippensburg University, Pa.

After working offshore as a biologist/researcher in Virginia, Bartle moved back to Pennsylvania to work as a biologist for a consulting company.

She had always wanted a career in law enforcement, but also wanted to use her biological studies background—her position as a Waterways Conservation Officer with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission was a perfect match.

The Spring Speaker Series is underwritten by Grace and Robert Brown.

Additional support in part by Marge Kiersz, Lucinda D. Potter, CPA, and SEK CPAs & Advisors, and by our Today’s Horizon Fund contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; the late Alma W. Oyer; APX Enclosures; Don Gibe and Nancy Erlanson; and the family of the late Carolyn Terry Eddy, with daughters Connie Fleagle & Kim Larkin.
