We Have a Bridge!

The new bridge was OPEN TO TRAFFIC on October 1, 2024!
It is capable of handling school buses, other large vehicles, and cars—and was the necessary next ‘big step’ in getting Buttonwood Nature Center accessible to the public.

Once we had the bridge allowing full access to the nature center property, additional infrastructure work was carried out—creating a new trail and improving existing trails, signage, parking area (albeit temporary), etc.

After construction ended in October, the stream banks were seeded and covered in protective burlap.

An official ribbon-cutting event in March commemorated our new bridge.

On June 21, 2025, with the “basics” accomplished, Buttonwood Nature Center opened to the public. The nature center grounds are open for visitors daily during daylight hours. School field trips for some of our programs are being conducted at Buttonwood, too.
