EXPLORE! Basics of Birding 2026

July 15 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

This is the first in our series of four EXPLORE! outdoor adventure programs in July. 

Designed for kids in grades K to 5, EXPLORE! programs will run on four Wednesdays, July 8, 15, 22, 29. Session runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area in Waynesboro, Pa.—a full 90 minutes of educational fun!

All program activities are outside, and each week features a different theme. Taught by educators from Buttonwood Nature Center, programs include educational activities related to the season and theme. Students may attend any or all sessions.

July 15: EXPLORE Basics of Birding:

Join a Buttonwood Naturalist to learn about the wonders of birdwatching!

Participants will learn how to focus binoculars, keep a field journal, and identify bird songs. There will be a short activity to practice using binoculars, followed by a bird walk and a fun craft.

Fee: $8 member of Buttonwood Nature Center; $10 general public. Space is limited. Register online by July 8.
